2 Months "working" in LA Coming to an End

I've been "working" in LA for the past 2 months. That gave me plenty opportunity to enjoy myself riding at Knotts Berry Farm and Magic Mountain. My 2007 ride total is 732 ! At this rate it'll be easy to beat 2006's total of 862. My PA / NJ vacation is coming up in less than 2 weeks. I can't wait to ride again. I must admit, I need to go to some new parks other than the 2 LA parks I've been at every weekend.

Best Coatermania @ Cedar Point Yet!

Yesterday was Coastermania day at Cedar Point. It was the best ever ! I had the most rides in one day ever at Cedar Point -- 30! The ERT's were great and not too crowded. One negative thing, I don't like their newest coaster #17 Maverick. I ride with my hands in the air (always) the I really got beat up on the 2 rides I had yesterday morning at 6AM. It does serve a purpose for me. It shortens the line for Millennium Force because people are waiting in line to ride Maverick. It's definitely not in my top 10 steel coaster list or more than a once a visit ride.

My 2007 coaster count is up to -- 625 already...

2007 Lots of Coasters This Year!

This site has been offline for sometime , but time to catch up. This has been a great and unbelievable year for me and it's just beginning ! I've been working frequently in the Los Angeles area so I've been getting in lots of rides. My 2007 ride total is already at 585 with 14 trips to Magic Mountain! My last trip allowed me to ride 57 coasters in 1visit . I can't wait until next week and I get to ride Maverick at Cedar Point at Coastermania...
Here's to another record breaking season !!!

    Coaster Record Broken

Well I was able to break my coaster record after spending 4 days at Busch Gardens in Tampa. I needed to spend 10 - 11 hours  everyday to get my rides in. I broke the record on 12/29 by one, and extended the count the following day. I ended up with 862 rides .

I really enjoyed their new ride (2005) call Sheikra a dive coaster. It drops 195 feet straight down (90 degrees). You hit speeds of 70 mph ! Another record breaking season for me. Let's see what 2007 holds in store .

    Phoenix, Christmas & Geocaching

Out here for the past few days with more to come on vacation. Was home shopping yesterday Saturday and the prices are great . I'd be making out moving out here. Doing lots of Geocaching and hiking at South Mountain. Saturday evening they started their Festival of the Lights. They decorate all the cactus with lights going down Chandler Blvd (when I'm looking to live) for about a mile. It's absolutely beatiful. You saw some of the pictures on my home page. They even places illuminated displays in the mountains. That's just amazing ! This just adds to my love of this part of the country. It maybe time for a change for me.
This January I'll celebrate my 19th year in Florida. We had a calm hurricane season this summer, but the insurance rates are still skyrocketing ! I don't know if I can afford to live there anymore . Anyway, I'm just going to enjoy myself while I'm here and we'll see what happens.

    Final Coaster Day for 2006

Well today was 6 Flags Over Georgia's Season Passholder Appreciation Day . This was probably the coldest day I've ever ridden any coasters . In fact I went to Wal-Mart to get a flanel shirt and gloves. It was 43 degrees when I started riding at 10AM. It was sooo cold the Georgia Cyclone ( wooden coaster) wasn't able to run. I guess the cutoff is 45 or 50 degrees. As usual it was a great day for riding. I think the cold kept many people away. NOT ME!!!
I got 28 rides today, bringing my 2006 total to 813 ! Last year's recording breaking number was 850. I'm 38 rides from breaking that record. I don't have any additional scheduled ride days (unless Siemens sends me back to LA to work) for this year. Realistically, I never thought I'd even get this close.
I guess time will tell, but I must admit I'm quite chilly here in the hotel. I hope I don't get sick from this cold weather.... Bye,

    New Favorite #1 Woodie

Last week I was working in New Jersey and decided to spend the weekend and went to 6 Flags Great Adventure. I found my new #1 wooden coaster - El Toro ! It's fast and smooth and goes 70mph. I know fast and smooth are not normally used in the same sentence as wood coaster, but this one is great. UNBELIEVEABLE AIR TIME (negative g's - floating in seat). The wheels are big and teflon coated like many steel megacoasters. The turns are fast and highly banked . I love it and rode it 7 times over the weekend, although it was closed all day Sunday .
I still love "Millie" at Cedar Point the most, but this is the greatest woodie!

    Hurricane Wilma Pix Posted

    Hello Everyone,

    Hurricane Wilma

This has been the scariest experience of my life  !! I did survive, but had to leave town for a hot meal, hot shower and electricity. None of the above (water or electricity) at home in the past 4 days. I'll be posting the pictures soon as the power gets on at home.

The power of nature is awesome. I watched big boats get tossed and cars too. I was praying and bailing water from my living room window (8 buckets worth) Monday, but I didn't have any damage. This is the only part of living in South Florida that scares me. Picture soon to follow once the power is on.

    New Daily Record

Another visit to Knotts today and posted yet another daily record -- 70 in 5 hours .

I also found 2 geocaches on a morning hike in Santa Clarita too, before my rides!

    2005 total = 783

    New 1 Day Ride Record

Well, each day holds an new broken record! Today at Knotts Berry Farm I rode 52 rides   in 4 1/4 hours! I must admit if I didn't hook up with "Richard Xcelerator," I would not have kept going. Much to my surprise, I feel good. I even found 1 geocache near Buena Park before Knotts, and when I got up here this evening I found 1 cache here in Santa Clarita .

I'm off to Magic Mountain tomorrow...   I'm predicting nothing from here.

    2005 coaster total = 690

    Broke the 600 Level

Had just another great day here in California. It was a lite day here at 6 Flags Magic Mountain. Got 23 rides in, so this brings my 2006 ride total to 612 . I guess my next goal is 700, but that's pushing it. I've still got all next week to ride, so who knows....

    Coaster Count 589

Had a great day yesterday at Knotts Berry Farm. I broke my personal daily record in 2 1/2 hours there. Nobody was at the park. I rode 31 rides in 2 1/2 hours. 28 of the 31 rides were on Xcelerator.
That's nothing! I was riding with I retired guy I met this past spring (May) riding Xcelerator. Today, he set his monthly riding record on that ride at 1000. All he does 4 - 5 days per week is ride this ride. He's ridden it over 13,000 time since it's opening several years ago.
Six more days of vacation to go, so 600 is definitely in site!!

    Broke 500!

I had a great weekend here in Williamsburg Virginia at Busch Gardens. Got lots of rides in and broke the 500 barrier with a weeks vacation in LA coming up the end of September. I wasn't going back today Sunday, but the weather was too nice.

    2005 ride total =530!

They've Killed the Beast in Cincinnati

Midway through my vacation my ride count is mounting.
    I'm now at 439 for 2005!
The worst thing is I'm here in Cincinnati expecting to go to Kings Island for 2 days, and I'm leaving town tomorrow morning (only 1 day) for Sandusky and Cedar Point again.
THEY'VE KILLED THE BEAST   my once upon a time most favorite wooden coaster. It's not even on my list of favorites anymore. They put in brakes  in 3 different places on the ride. The worst one is on the down hill side of the first hill! Can you believe that?  I rode in the front car and could see these new brakes! With that ride being neutered, there is nothing to stay here for. Besides the weather sucks here too. I think it followed me south to Cincinnati. At least I got my fill of 5 way Skyline Chili and White Castle burgers   !

    Broke Personal Coaster Record

I did it already this season while on vacation. I broke my personal yearly record for coaster rides  .

I've now ridden 332 rides for the season with 5 more vacation days left this month alone.
